Our Project
In this project we had to choose a type of helmet to design. This project was meant to help us learn how to use a 3D modeling program. The helmet my partner and I chose to design was a racing helmet for Motorsports. In order to do this, we first had to research the safety requirements that Motorsport helmets have. We then compiled all of our research in a research paper that explains all the testing, standards, and how our helmet would work with the standards. The first step of designing the helmet was to create a conceptual sketch with multiple views. We then scanned these sketches and uploaded them into our modeling program, Autodesk Fusion 360. From there we could use these sketches as references when modeling. We also designed different stickers
Concepts
- Acceleration- Change of velocity over a change in time.
- Crumple Zones- part of the car that is meant to crumple easily in order to absorb the force of impact
- Drag-is a term used in fluid dynamics that is sometimes referred to as air resistance or fluid resistance. Friction is one of multiple factors that influence the amount of drag encountered by a body moving through a fluid such as air or water.
- Inertia- an object resisting their change of motion. An object moving will stay moving and an object at rest will remain at rest unless acted upon by another force.
- G Force- a force acted upon an object from acceleration or gravity
- Friction-
- Force- the force of two objects resisting motion when in contact
