Internship at the Makerspace in South Novato Library
This internship was more like a class that teaches students how to engineer different objects. We learn how to use many tools at first such as a 3D printer, X-Carves, laser cutters, and different 3D modeling programs. After the first couple of days learning how to use these different tools, we are allowed to create a large projects that can be anything we'd like to create.
For my project, I chose to build a large battleship board game. I was interested in using the X-Carve and 3D printer more so I wanted to use those tools in my project. I first 3D modeled my project using Tinkercad. This took me a couple days of modeling and revising my work. Once I was done modeling my battleship pieces, I dowloaded them into the Makerwear program which enabled me to 3D print my pieces.
The next part of the project was to measure out the board and plug in the measurements into the Inventables Easle program to X-Carve. I did have to edit my model in the Easle program because it would not properly transfer over to the new program. After adding the design into the X-Carve program, 4 boards were individually cut from a piece of wood.
